Terry Gilliam cannot catch a break.
The House of Mouse announced their plans for a Don Quixote film, done in a similar style to Pirates of the Caribbean, which sounds to us like Johnny Depp as Alanso Quixano. Don't quote us on that, that's not an actual casting announcement, just speculation. So far, Hunger Games writer is set to script the film, with Gordon Gray to produce.
The famous Spanish remains a seminal piece of classical literature whose influences can be traced to modern times. Notably, Monty Python member Terry Gilliam has tried to make his adaptation of the famous novel for years with little success. The first of such attempts began in 1998.

With Disney making their own film, Gilliam could be facing his biggest hurdle yet, though we wish him luck. Just recently, Disney released their live action remake of The Jungle Book, and it was really good, despite the fact that Andy Serkis, the guy you know for giving all the best motion capture performances for CG characters like Gollum and the ape Caesar, plans to make his own film of the Rudyard Kipling novel. We can already picture the movie being compared to the Disney film. Hopefully, this doesn't become a pattern with Disney.
