The film begins production this summer
Just after news the The Sopranos prequel film is happening, we know now a big-screen adaptation of ITV drama Downton Abbey is on the horizon.
On the air for six seasons between 2010 and 2015, Downton Abbey focused on the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants as they live through the historically turbulent time between 1912 and 1926.
The show's official Twitter account shared the news of the film adaptation.

Meanwhile, cast members Joanne Frogatt and Michelle Dockery both took to social media to announce they will return, along with star Maggie Smith.

According to Variety, series creator Julian Fellows will write the screenplay while Brian Percival, who directed the show's pilot, will direct the movie.
The film adaptation begins production this summer.
