The punk era poet is to release a new book this November and will take his theatre tour with shows at Vicar Street and Ulster Hall worldwide.
‘The Luckiest Guy Alive’, with a cover designed by Sir Peter Blake, is the first new poetry collection from the Englishman for several decades. The book collects stunning set pieces with well-known audience favourites and brand new poems.
The new tour ‘ Dr John Cooper Clarke – The Luckiest Guy Alive Tour’ will be a mix of classic verse and is to include material from the new book along with funny ponderings on modern life. It's set to visit the UK, USA, Canada and Australasia.
The original ‘people’s poet’, Dr John Cooper Clarke shot to fame in the 70s and became one of the defining voices of his generation. He released a string of albums in the late 70s and 80s. His work has crossed cultures, art forms and continents.
Outliving the punk scene he came to prominence in, the performance poet’s trademark look continues to inspire and resonate with young fashionistas and his impact on modern music is huge.

His influence can be heard within the keen social observations of the Arctic Monkeys and Plan B. The Artic Monkeys put one of his most well-known poems ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ to music on their recently released A:M album.
