Rainy Days will be an 'unusual, hopeful' horror with child protagonists
Fantastic Films, the Dublin-based horror production company, will be working with Irish director Aislinn Clarke (The Devil's Doorway) on a new movie.
Speaking to Hot Press to promote the Galway Film Fleadh screening of The Devil's Doorway on July 11, Clarke revealed some details about the project.
"I’m working with Fantastic Films on a couple of projects, attached to one as a director that I haven’t written. Then there's one I am writing and directing called Rainy Days. It’s a post-apocalyptic story that’s a bit unusual. It’s ultimately hopeful. It’s got child protagonists but it is of course a horror film," said Clarke.
The writer-director said she is very excited to be working with Fantastic Films who she called "Ireland’s best known, most successful genre production company."
Fantastic Films's output includes the critically acclaimed The Hallow, I Am Not a Serial Killer and Wakewood.
Clarke is set to make a stir with her debut feature The Devil's Doorway, a found-footage horror revolving around two priests sent to a Magdalene Laundry to investigate paranormal activity.

Inspired by a story from her mother about a friend being sent to one of these homes, Clarke believes horror is the perfect genre to address the cruelty endured by women in the Magdalene Laundries.
"I think since as long as human beings have been telling each other stories, horror has been a great vehicle for us to help unpick and understand real world threats and trauma. For me, the supernatural horror in The Devil’s Doorway is a heightened metaphor," says Clarke.
