Rap duo Versatile have made the Irish Singles Chart with viral hit 'Ketamine'.
The inner city rappers have gained a massive following on YouTube and, after stealing the show at Electric Picnic last weekend, show no signs of slowing down. Now they have entered the official Irish singles chart with 'Ketamine' coming in at Number 49.
The controversial video for 'Ketamine' was released last April and now has over 1.6 million views. The lads - Alex 'Eskimo Supreme' Sheehan and Casey 'Casper' Walsh - are particularly well known for their parodies of life in Ringsend which dominates their videos for Outburst's YouTube channel. Versatile are part of the growing Irish hip-hop scene emerging around the country and are often compared to Eminem's early work, particularly given their ability to strike a balance between controversy and comedy. It seems fitting then that their work joins Eminem's in the Official Irish Singles Chart.
Recently, the pair have featured in the 2017 documentary The Truth about Irish Hip-Hop a short film by Gavin Fitzgerald and Mark Hayes that explores the changing attitudes to the genre in the country.
You can check out the seven minute video for 'Ketamine' on Outburst's YouTube Channel.
