Dublin City Council has brought back their beloved festive installation Dublin Winter Lights for the fourth year running.
With two walking trails across the city, the Dublin Winter Lights are spread across twenty-one sites and encompass a host of Dublin’s best-known landmarks. This years installation features five new locations, and will remain lit until January 1st 2022.
The seasonal spectacular features awe-inspiring projections on the Hugh Lane Gallery, the Mansion House, the GPO, and many more of Dublin city’s most iconic buildings and structures. The brightening boost these illuminations give to the city during these darker evenings is a most welcome delight for Dubliners.
"5 new locations have been added to the list this year including the historical Liberties area, and we are delighted to introduce Merrion Square Park as a venue, the details of which will be launched very shortly, so watch this space," said Simon Clarke of the Dublin City Council Events Unit

Since 2018, ‘Dublin Winter Lights’ has brought a spellbinding spectacle to the streets of Dublin. The 2021 iteration of the ‘Lights’ is proud to be the most eco-friendly yet; no diesel generators are being used this year. Instead, where main power is not available, DCC are using hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90%. Additionally, the majority of installations are using energy-efficient LED lighting.
These projections showcase the sheer talent of participating artists and also celebrate local community heroes. The Council encourages one and all to visit the city and enjoy the uniquely enchanting ‘Dublin Winter Lights’.
