The Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival will see musicians, filmmakers, writers and audiophiles alike discuss music and its importance in our lives and communities. The talks and discussions will provide insight into how albums were created, what the artists were trying to communicate and how the music should be listened to.

Born out of conversations in a record shop, The Dún Laoghaire Vinyl Festival will bring together both Irish and international musicians, writers and filmmakers.

Film director Lenny Abrahamson will feature in conversation with Nadine O'Regan and his long-time collaborator, musician Stephen Rennicks, discussing soundtracks and how music can be used in film, while singer and composer Gavin Friday will appear at the festival on Sunday to discuss the work of Brian Eno. There will also be panels and talks featuring Adrian Dunbar, Kevin Godly, Horslips, Delorentos and Eamonn McCann. while the Howth singing circle Sea Shanties will perform a free event on the opening evening.

To top it all off, a huge record fair will be on site for the full weekend.

The festival will take place this weekend, Friday 16th November - Sunday 18th November 2018, throughout three main locations in Dún Laoghaire: The Lexicon Library, The National Maritime Museum and the Elbana Club.

The talks and discussions over the weekend will cover all aspects of vinyl recordings, including writing, recording, producing and performing in addition to examining sleeve design and liner notes - a must for all audiophiles.
