Bethesda confirms Elder Scrolls 6, Dishonored 2, and much more at this year’s E3 press conference.
The gaming world is atwitter over Bethesda’s showcase at this year’s E3 press conference.
Todd Howard, the executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios, has confirmed that one of the three major projects currently in the works for their development team is Elder Scrolls 6, which has been highly anticipated ever since the initial launch of its predecessor Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011.
The producer also announced that a remastered Skyrim will be available on October 28, which will hopefully keep fans happy while they await the arrival of Elder Scrolls 6. However, Howard warns fans that its official release date, currently unannounced, is still a long way off. On YouTube’s live E3 stream, Howard states:
“I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, ‘That sounds like you don't even have the technology. How long is that going to take?’ So it is something that’s going to take a lot of time…and we actually have two other large projects we’re also doing that are bigger than everything we’ve done. People will probably hear about those even before Elder Scrolls 6. That’ll make sense many years from now.”
During the conference, Howard remained vague about the other two projects Bethesda is currently working on, but in the meantime fans will have a couple of new video games to look forward to with imminent release dates.

Dishonored 2—sequel to the stealth-oriented steampunk video game Dishonored—is a first-person shooter set to be released this year on November 11. Dishonored 2 will allow players to switch between two title characters; the beloved protagonist of the first game, assassin Corvo Attano, and his daughter Emily Kaldwin—the same child players tried to protect in Dishonored. In Dishonored 2, Emily is all grown up and the empress of Karnaca, but in the game’s tumultuous beginning she is forced to flee in order to escape a mysterious usurper to the throne.
The game’s trailer shows off its spectacular graphics, while also giving players a sneak peek preview of several different features that will be offered, including some new powers and weapons. One such power, called the “mesmerise” ability, allows Emily to distract enemies momentarily to avoid the use of combat.
Bethesda later revealed that a reboot of an old favourite, Prey, will be released in 2017. Rumours have been floating around for years about a forthcoming sequel to the original Prey, released in 2006, but the producers stressed that this game is not a sequel. Lead designer Raphael Colantonio described it as an immersive first-person sim with a psychological twist.
Bethesda also announced that another fan favourite, Fallout 4, will be getting three DLC expansion packs this year.
The first new add-on to be released,Contraptions Workshop, comes out next week on June 21. This is the second workshop add-on for Fallout 4, and it gives players the ability to use weapon and armour racks, elevators and conveyer belts for sorting items.
The next DLC to be released, called the Vault-Tec Workshop, is another workshop add-on, but this one will allow players to build their own vaults, as well as experiment on their vault’s dwellers. It will be released sometime in July of this year.
Nuka World, the final expansion pack announced at the 2016 E3 conference, will be the second story add-on for Fallout 4. With this DLC, players will be able to access an entirely new region— specifically, a vast amusement park filled with raiders, which will feature new creatures, weapons and quests. Nuka World will be available for download in August of this year.
