In the 1000th issue of Hot Press, Michael D Higgins sits down with us to talk climate change, Greta Thunberg, combating the alt-right, and more.
Having written extensively about the subject during his time as a Hot Press columnist, President Michael D. Higgins is taking the environmental fight to Donald Trump and his fellow climate change deniers and outlining his proposals for a greener planet that works for all.
In his broad, 6-page piece, the President also covers everything from Greta Thunberg, the new alt-right, socialism, supporting the arts, meeting Leonard Cohen and - of course - his Hot Press years.
Speaking about Greta Thunberg, the President says: "Every now and again, it's necessary for someone to break the bubble...and Greta Thunberg has done that. I think she's very, very important and I hope she's looked after. Greta is speaking out of a great moral instinct and that's to be encouraged, not vilified."
The new Hot Press is in stores now, and features interviews with - and contributions from - U2, Sharon Horgan, Pixies, Ardal O'Hanlon, The Murder Capital, Elbow, Bruce Springsteen and many more!
