"I’m delighted to have been asked to choose the recipient of this scholarship, and I'm delighted to have chosen Emily Radke [Emileo]. She has something very special, and I'm really happy and excited for her," Sinéad O‘Connor said about the artist.
Today, April 21st, Berlin-born singer Emileo shared her new single, 'Hija del cielo'. The song, which is translated to "The Sky's Daughter," comes with a reggaeton beat that "transports the listener to exotic corners of the globe," it says in press materials.
With its incredible range of harmonies over sublime synth sounds, the self-produced song takes listeners on a unique journey.
In 2020, Emileo was awarded the Sinead O‘Connor BA Commercial Modern Music Scholarship at the BIMM Institute in Dublin. As a result, she had the opportunity to meet the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer, Sinéad O‘Connor herself.

In previous years, Emileo supported artists such as Mundy and Tolü Makay on their tours and performed in Dublin‘s 3Olympia Theatre and Cork‘s Opera House as a special guest for Tori Amos in 2022. In May 2021, she self-released her debut EP, Lord of the Fish, which was highly acclaimed.

When Emileo won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for a Classic Irish Album, she met Sinéad O'Connor. When Emileo met the singer, she said: "When my mum was pregnant with me, she would always be listening to ‘Faith and Courage'. It seems absolutely crazy to me that, 22 years later, I finally got to meet and hang out with one of the strongest and bravest women of all time."
For Emileo, O'Connor was a source of inspiration that motivated her to make music. Emileo says that the Irish singer "deserves all the appreciation and love in this world for always standing up for who she wants to be and what she believes in. My new single ‘Hija del cielo' is an ode to all the inspirational superwomen in my life, and she is definitely one of them."
