Euphoria star Hunter Schafer was among 30 demonstrators taken into police custody for participating in a pro-Palestine rally outside of US President Joe Biden's Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance in New York City on Monday.
The actress was part of a group of more than 100 protestors who boycotted the lobby of NBC headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on Monday afternoon, calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war, the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) said. The 30 people who were taken into custody were issued summonses for trespassing.
Demonstrators donned black shirts reading "Ceasefire Now" and "Not in Our Name" while chanting "Let Gaza Live" as Biden's motorcade entered the premises.

In an Instagram post featuring Schafer, JVP stated the mission of Monday's protest: “Biden’s deadly foreign policy has funded and fueled genocide in Gaza. 50 protesters were arrested by the NYPD and Secret Service,” the post reads. "The President needs to start listening to the American people – not the far-Right Israeli government indiscriminately bombing the people of Gaza, destroying 70% of infrastructure, including hospitals, universities and the electricity and water grids."
Biden has received harsh criticism for his handling of the United States' response to the conflict. Before appearing on Late Night, Biden and Meyers went out for ice cream, where the president was filmed saying that he hopes a ceasefire will start "by the end of the weekend."
“My National Security adviser tells me that we’re close. We’re not done yet,” Biden said in a video, filmed by Reuters. “My hope is by next Monday, we’ll have a ceasefire.”
