Life In The Fast Lane
Houston, we have a problem. Lewis Hamilton’s race car is wedged between a fence and another vehicle. Hamilton tries to escape the awkward sandwich, only to grind his fender off. Two bored spectators wave their arms unenthusiastically and a voice stutters from the PS4 controller speaker: “Black flag for erratic driving”.
You don’t see this at Silverstone. Grand Theft Auto drivers need not apply for the latest Formula 1 game, which is the closest you’ll get to a real F1 event outside of streaking across the track.
Dabble with tyre selection, track conditions, while lackeys toil over your car in the pit. Easy settings allow you to drive with virtual stabilisers, although the corners are still a bastard.
We get Championship Season, Pro Season, Quick Race, and Multiplayer, but it’s all scaled back from previous incarnations, and misses career mode and online co-op.
