Watch Dermot Kennedy's powerful performance below.
Among the most moving moments of Friday's The Late Late Show was Dermot Kennedy's powerful performance of Van Morrison's classic single 'Days Like This'.
The Dublin singer-songwriter appeared on the show, which also featured the likes of Mary Lou McDonald, Andrew Scott and Orla Tinsley, to promote the work of Brother Kevin Crowley's Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin – which provides over 700 meals each day and 1,500 food parcels each week to the homeless and poor of the city. His rendition of 'Days Like This', as well as originals 'All My Friends' and 'Power Over Me', followed similarly emotional performances by Hozier, Glen Hansard, Gavin James and Danny O'Reilly in recent weeks.
Kennedy's appearance also coincided with the release of his new EP, Lost In The Soft Light. The project contains stripped-backed versions of tracks from his debut album, Without Fear – which charted all over Europe, and reached No.1 in Ireland and the UK. Earlier this year, the Rathcoole artist also topped four of the major categories in Hot Press Readers' Poll 2020 –winning Irish Album, Debut Irish Album, Best Male and Best Track for 'Power Over Me'.

Delighted the #CapuchinDayCentre is receiving such positive attention this week. It's so well deserved and what a brilliant musical ambassador they have in @DermotKennedy !
The work of the Capuchins in Ireland will go down in history. Esp during the 1916 Rising. #latelate— Clo 🌻 (@ClodaghShortall) April 24, 2020
