The Derry Girls star will be guest starring in Ncuti Gatwa's second season as the iconic time-lord.
The first look at Irish actress Nicola Coughlan on the set of the upcoming season of Doctor Who has been released.
Known for her breakout roles in Derry Girls and Bridgerton, Coughlan will be guest starring alongside Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor Who.
"Hi, I'm Nicola Coughlan and I'm very excited to be joining Doctor Who as a guest star in Ncuti's second season," Coughlan tells the camera in costume in a recently posted promotional video. Alongside the video, the Doctor Who social media team have shared a photo of Coughlan on set, dressed in a red outfit complete with a striking red beret.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies elaborated on recent photographs of Coughlan filming around South Wales last week. He explained that she'd be appearing in a Christmas special episode due to air at the end of 2024.

“[We’ve got] Nicola Coughlan at Christmas," he commented. "Not this Christmas, next Christmas. We’re shooting Christmas 2024 now."
The show's 15th series will also introduce Coronation Street's Millie Gibson as the Doctor's companion, Ruby Sunday. Gatwa's Doctor is set to debut on Christmas Day this year, with an episode entitled 'The Church on Ruby Road'.
Alongside the introduction of a new Doctor, Doctor Who will be bringing back David Tennant as The Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna on November 25th for three special episodes in honour of the show's 60th anniversary.
