'Roman Holiday' sees Fontaines D.C. delve further into the album’s poignant themes surrounding Irish identity and community.
Fontaines D.C. have shared new single 'Roman Holiday', the final track to be released ahead of third album Skinty Fia's arrival this Friday.
Landing via Partisan Records, previous singles ‘I Love You’, ‘Jackie Down The Line’ and the album’s title track will also appear on the follow up to 2020's A Hero's Death.
‘Roman Holiday’ hears frontman Grian Chatten reflect on his experiences of moving to London and what it was like experiencing life in the city as an Irish person.
Fontaines D.C.’s third full-length drops this Friday (22nd April), with frontman Grian Chatten describing the latest cut as making him "think of the wide streets of north London in the Summer and the urge to discover them at night time. The thrill of being a gang of Irish people in London with a bit of a secret language and my first flat with my girlfriend."
In Fontaines D.C.'s cover story interview in the new issue of Hot Press, Grian reflects further on the inspiration behind the album.

"A large part of what Skinty Fia is about is the way Irishness becomes exaggerated and embellished when we’re abroad," he says. "And how whether it’s in parts of London, Boston or Vancouver, we still cling together for various reasons including the discomfort of being ‘othered’, which I’ve been feeling. It’s fertile soil for creativity."
The Hot Press February cover stars announced extra shows for their upcoming November/December tour yesterday, with three dates at Vicar Street (November 30-December 2) and two dates in Belfast as well as a visit to Galway, Limerick and Derry. See fontainesdc.com for more information.
