The book will provide listeners with deeper insights on the album and Lightbody himself.
Gary Lightbody, lead singer of Snow Patrol, will release his new book The Forest is the Path – out March 13.
The book, named after Snow Patrol's 2024 album, provides deeper insight into the creation of the record and Lightbody’s personal life. The official Snow Patrol store will carry an exclusive signed edition of the book, which will also be available in eBook and audiobook formats.
“The book has the same name as the album because it is a companion piece to it,” Lightbody wrote on the Snow Patrol X account.
The majority of the book addresses the death of Lightbody’s father in 2019, touching on themes of “time, home, love, death [and] life.”
“Every time we finish an album I usually feel like there are hardly any words left in me. Not until we go about making the next album. But when we finished recording The Forest Is The Path in February 2024 I realised that there was more I wanted to say,” said Lightbody. “I didn’t know it was going to be a book but I just started writing.”

“It focuses on four days after my father’s passing: the day he died, the day after, the funeral, and a year later. For it was a year later that I was able to write again for the first time since he died and the story of the album actually begins,” he continued.
Indie-rock band Snow Patrol earned nominations from The BRIT and Grammy Awards. Their most recent album, The Forest is the Path, also reached number one on the UK charts.
“I hope people find the same comfort and relief in the book that it gave me writing it,” said Lightbody.
