News about potential Game of Thrones (GoT) spin-offs began spreading like wildfire and George R.R. Martin has now separated fact from rumor.
George confirms four pilot scripts, set in the Game of Thrones-universe, are on its way. He then announced a fifth writer has started working on an additional script. The writer's name has yet to be revealed.
Martin explains that it will be 'very unlikely' all scripts will make it to the screen. The ones that make it, however, should equal the performance of the original GoT series.
The pilot scripts are 'successor shows' and will pre-date the Game of Thrones story line. The new scripts won't star any of the characters from the original show. Martin even states that 'some may not even be set on Westeros'. He also won't be using any stories he hasn't finished yet. "We all know how slow I am, and how fast a television show can move. I don't want to repeat what happened with Game of Thrones itself, where the show gets ahead of the books."
