The Scottish anti-folk hero Gerry Cinnamon is one of the hottest new stars of the past two years. And Irish fans have a special grá for him...
Gerry Cinnamon is bound for Ireland next summer.
One of the big hits of Electric Picnic this year, Cinnamon is lined up for three major Irish dates. His opening outdoor headlining show in Ireland is at Independent Park, Cork on Friday, 19 June. Two days later, he will take to the stage at Malahide Castle, Dublin, on Sunday 21 June. And sandwiched in between is an outing at the Belsonic Festival in Belfast!
In a smart promotional move, fans are advised to pre-order Cinnamon's upcoming album The Bonny for access to ticket pre-sale. It must be working: the Live at Hamden Park gig is already sold out. The Bonny – a brand new meisterwerk from Cinnamon – is scheduled for release in April 2020.
The Scottish singer-songwriter is among the break-out stars of the past two years in the UK. His debut album, Erratic Cinematic, released in September 2017 was a slow burner, eventually going gold. It reached No.17 in the UK charts, but it fared better in the Scottish charts, peaking at No.3. It was also a big hit here in Ireland, climbing to No.8 in the Irish charts. There has always been a strong preference for singer-songwriters in this part of the world – even of the hard-hitting, pugnacious variety!
In 2017, Gerry Cinnamon was the winner of the Great Scot Award – previously won by Paolo Nutini.

Cinnamon’s Cork show will see him make a return appearance to Independent Park, having supported Liam Gallagher there last year. Tickets for the Irish shows go on sale on Friday.
