The legendary music producer will bring his first ever live show titled 'A Celebration of the 80s' to Dublin in April.
Giorgio Moroder has been a major influence in the music industry for over 55 years, with his massive contribution to pop music recognized with a total of four Grammy Awards. The first to put dance music to a repetitive percussive beat and to abandon the laws of harmony, he first gained recognition in the 70s with both his own music and his productions for Donna Summer leading to a string of other collaborations with big names such as Cher Blondie, David Bowie, Bonnie Tyler and Pat Benatar.
Besides working with the biggest artists of the 70s and 80s, Moroder also composed and produced the soundtracks for iconic 80s movies such as American Gigolo, Cat People, Scarface, Electric Dreams, The Never Ending Story, Top Gun, and Midnight Express.
Now his first live show, A Celebration of the 80’s, will see the pioneering Italian songwriter, producer and DJ perform the highlights from his prolific career in a spectacular stage show with dazzling visuals and lighting alongside his band and vocalists.
Commenting on the show Moroder said: “it is something I have always wanted to do, fans kept reaching out to me, asking if I would ever do a real tour. Back in the days it was unthinkable for producers to ever leave their studios. That territory was reserved for the singers. Today, DJ’s and music producers have become the superstars of popular dance music, so the time feels right and I am so excited to be finally doing this!”
