The Guild of Music Supervisors has announced the nominees for its 12th annual award ceremony, with Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard honoured alongside Eddie Vedder, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Lin-Manuel Miranda and more.

The awards celebrate outstanding achievement in the craft of Music Supervision in film, television, games, documentaries, advertising, and trailers. Dublin's own Glen Hansard was recognised for his Eddie Vedder track 'My Father's Daughter'.

The soundtrack was written for Eddie's performer daughter Olivia and penned with music supervisor Tracy McKnight for the Flag Day theme. Seattle Surf and Republic Records released the soundtrack for the Sean Penn movie, featuring a total of eight tracks written by Eddie Vedder and Glen Hansard. Two songs were performed by Vedder’s daughter Olivia. In addition, there are three new songs from Cat Power, who also covered KK’s 'I Think of Angels,' and Eddie Vedder plays R.E.M.’s 'Drive.'

In addition, Beyoncé was among those recognised for the Oscar-nominated King Richard song 'Be Alive,' with Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, filmmaker Jeymes Samuel and music supervisor Michelle Silverman noted for the song 'Guns Go Bang' from The Harder They Fall.

Lin-Manuel Miranda was cited for his Oscar-nominated Encanto song 'Dos Oruguitas.' Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars shared a nom for the Shang-Chi song 'Fire In the Sky', while H.E.R. was nominated for the song 'Change' from Netflix series We the People.

Demi Lovato was among the songwriter nominees for the Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist song 'Anyone'.

Titles recognised in motion picture categories, as well as Encanto and The Harder They Fall, included Being the Ricardos, The Tender Bar, tick, tick…BOOM!, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Passing, Sylvie’s Love and The Worst Person in the World, with such series as The Crown, Lovecraft Country and The White Lotus factoring in alongside Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist on the television side.

Prolific songwriter Diane Warren, who recently received her 13th Oscar nomination for the Four Good Days track 'Somehow You Do', is slated to receive the Guild of Music Supervisors’ Icon Award at the ceremony. The awards will take place virtually on March 20th, with the 45-year music industry veteran claiming the Legacy Award.

Emerging from the stasis of lockdown, Hansard is taking on a number of extra-curricular projects, while also busily crafting his fifth solo album, the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2019’s This Wild Willing.

“I’m in the middle of it,” he revealed last month to Hot Press. “I’m working on it everyday right now, at home. Before that, I was in Italy with my band. We’ve always worked best when we’ve just gone to a house – a place where you’re available to the music all day long.”
