See Gormleys.ie to learn more about Julian Opie and Gordon Harris.
Hosted by Gormleys Gallery, exhibitions featuring Julian Opie in Dublin and Gordon Harris in Belfast will open this January through February.
Known for his contributions to the music industry, Opie designed the cover art for ‘Blur: The Best Of’ in addition to the LED projection accompanying U2’s 2006 Vertigo tour. Others may recognize his work ‘Suzanne Walking,’ a digital sculpture located outside the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin.
His most recent art features abstracted versions of human figures, utilizing strong geometric structures.
“Julian Opie’s art is both timeless and forward-thinking,” said gallerist James Gormley. “His unique ability to distil the complexities of the human experience into simplified, iconic forms has made him a key figure in contemporary art.”
Gormleys Dublin will host his first solo exhibition from January 18 to February 8.
Harris, an Irish figurative artist, will also be featured in Gormleys Belfast. Harris was initially inspired to paint when his daughter Elise was hospitalised for meningitis on her third birthday.

His most recent series highlights the development of his children over the past 17 years. Titled 'The Golden Empress,' Harris follows Elise and his two other daughters as they grow into adulthood. He uses bold oil paints and gold and silver leaf to capture his subjects.
Harris’ work will be on view from January 11 through January 31.
Both exhibitions are free to the public. More information can be found at Gormleys.ie.
