Gregory Porter sits down with famous friends to talk life, music and more.
After his 2017 BBC show Gregory Porter's Popular Voices, jazz singer Gregory Porter returns to hosting duties and launches his own podcast 'The Hang'. The first episode, with Jeff Goldblum as the celebrity guest, will be released on August 8.
"It's beautifully simple - in each episode, I sit down and talk with a close friend of mine, we shoot the breeze about music, life, cars, food, wine, whatever...", Porter explains in a trailer for the podcast.
Over the course of ten weeks, the singer welcomes guests like saxophonist Kamasi Washington, actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, filmmaker Amma Asante, broadcaster Gilles Peterson and singer Annie Lennox.
His first guest, however, is actor Jeff Goldblum. What, at first glance, seems like a random pairing, makes sense when you know the story behind their friendship. They first met in an airport and bonded over a mutual respect and admiration.

Being a jazz pianist, Goldblum backed Gregory Porter when he performed his song 'Mona Lisa' at the Graham Norton Show last year. In the podcast, the actor reveals that this performance was actually the reason why he and his band got a recording contract in 2018.
They also discuss their lives, families, love-making, why people are scared of jazz, and much more.
