Body & Soul 2022 will take place from June 17-19 at Ballinlough Castle, Co. Westmeath.
Hennessy has shared the highly anticipated line-up for their renowned space at Body & Soul Festival, featuring the likes of Malaki, Monjola, Aby Coulibaly and more.
Serving up the best in cultural expression and creative cocktails, Hennessy is thrilled to return for another amazing, eclectic celebration over three days and nights from 17 to 19 June, as part of Body & Soul’s immersive and adventurous weekend full of surprises.
Over the years some of the biggest artists in the world have namechecked Hennessy in their lyrics, from Tupac and Biggie in the '90s, to Drake and Kendrick Lamar in more recent years. The birth of hip-hop in the South Bronx 40 years ago gave a voice to a generation that felt they had none and it became the vehicle of choice for young people to express themselves.
Ireland’s own journey with hip hop began in the very late '80s, with a group of pioneers who wore their nationality in every bit of their art. Today it has grown into one of the country’s best-loved genres, with break out stars making waves in the UK, Europe and beyond.
These trailblazers led the way for some of Ireland’s most exciting talent to date, many of whom will be playing across the festival weekend. These include the critically acclaimed JyellowL, who’s debut 2020 album D|vision reached No. 2 on the official iTunes album charts and was nominated for Irish album of the year at the 2020 RTÉ Choice Music Prize Awards.

Joining him in the opening night celebrations on Friday will be neo-soul artist Tomike (who also features in Body & Soul‘s film, Éiru), psych-soul artist Caleb Kunle, Dublin hip-hop artist Ahmed, With Love., Drogheda rap star Alicia Raye, and two incredible DJs, Bella Festa and Louise Chen.
Saturday kicks off with thought-provoking panel discussions featuring some of Ireland’s brightest minds and most culturally important contributors.
Beginning the musical offerings will be the versatile and emotive UNQ, followed by Drimnagh rapper FYNCH, Cork conceptual artist Salamay, lo-fi hip-hop and R&B artist Shiv, singular Limerick rapper Strange Boy, jazz and R&B inspired rapper Nealo and Dublin MC and producer duo Mango X MathMan leading into a fabled b2b from Handsome Paddy and Bobofunk.
Sunday will see panel talks before Dundalk duo Negro Impacto, followed by Dublin alt-rapper KhakiKid, multi-instrumentalist Abbacaxi, rapper and songwriter Celaviedmai, profilic rapper poet Malaki, alternative R&B artist Monjola from Lucan and partying the way into the last hurrah for Hennessy at Body & Soul 2022 is a DJ set from EMA B2B Jio.
After a 2-year hiatus and some proper time out to rethink and reimagine - pioneering festival of music and arts Body & Soul has flipped its usual format on its head, halving its numbers and doubling its curatorial commitment.
With just 5,500 weekend tickets available, the strikingly smaller 3-day event will be a grown-up affair, with the promise of an unparalleled creative experience. Aside from their annual, colourful salute to the Summer Solstice, collaboration takes centre stage this year - fusing commissions of brand new work with music, dance, comedy, art installations, spoken work and performance across the stunning grounds of Ballinlough Castle Estate.
Slated to perform are Roisin Murphy, Mogwai, Sampa The Great, Yves Tumor, CMAT, Pillow Queens, Kelly Lee Owens, Soda Blonde, Yard Act, Remi Wolf, Sinead O’Brien, Fears, The Altered Hours, M(H)Aol, John Francis Flynn, New Jackson, AE Mak, Lisa O’Neill & Crash Ensemble.
