World renowned creative project The Walk featuring Little Amal will walk from Belfast to Dublin.
Presented by The Walk Productions in association with Handspring Puppet Company, creative project Little Amal, a 12 foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child is coming to Dublin.
Little Amal will arrive in Belfast on Thursday May 16 and will travel to Dublin before she bids us farewell on Friday May 24.
During her two day visit in Dublin, there will be many family friendly events for people to see and meet Little Amal in a series that is free and appropriate for all ages. There will also be feature performances from artists like Branar, Ireland’s leading children’s theatre company. As well as a show from the dance company Junk Ensemble.
There will be many musical performances from the likes of Colm Mac Con Iomaire, New Brass Kings, Jiggy, Tonnta Music and friends with a performance featuring words written by Manchán Magan.
Events will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 23 at the Wood Quay Amphitheatre where Dublin will welcome Amal. Event organisers have said that “a group of curious 10-year-olds from all over the city gather to give a fáilte chroíúil to 10-year-old Amal. The children have been preparing for her arrival and have imagined heartfelt, generous, and genuine ways to welcome her in a way she will understand.”
This is followed by “Stories On The Wind” at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at Merrion Square East at the International Literature Festival. Then “The Trip Of Memories'' will start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 24 at Custom House Quay. Then finally her goodbye, “Tonnta At Sunset” will be at the Samuel Beckett Bridge at 9:15 p.m.
