The boss of the US network CBS is reportedly in negotiations with the Big Bang Theory cast. Although there are no more episodes commissioned for the moment, the sitcom, centring on the science-obsessed group around Sheldon Cooper, most likely looks forward to a bright future: According to Variety, CBS is in talks with the three lead stars of the series: Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny).

“We are in negotiations, but it is definitely business as usual,” CBS president Glenn Geller told Variety at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Monday. “We are guardedly optimistic that we will make a deal.”

He also confirmed that there is no timetable to the negotiations, but when asked whether the show could continue without the usual cast, Geller answered: “We want to get them all back. That’s the goal.”

With the show currently airing its tenth season, CBS bosses try to renew the stars’ contracts, which would otherwise expire after this season. Geller sounds optimistic: “We’re very confident that everyone involved wants more of The Big Bang Theory past year 10. I know Warner Brothers will make those deals… We’ll put it on for as long as everyone wants it on the air. I hope it lasts forever.”

But not only CBS, also the BBT cast seems confident about the show’s future. Kaley Cuoco revealed that there is an “overall conses” among the cast to continue the show after the tenth season. Back in 2014 Calecki, Cuoco and Parsons had agreed a contract which saved them $1 million per episode – over three seasons.

Meanwhile, audience’s favourite, the neurotic genius Sheldon Cooper will get his own spin off, giving an insight in Sheldon’s childhood and youth with his family in Texas.
