Iceland Airwaves, the world’s hottest new music showcase, returns November 3rd - 6th, 2021.
Acclaimed Irish talent Denise Chaila, post-punk outfit Thumper and bedroom indie-pop artist Smoothboi Ezra have been added to the Iceland Airwaves Festival 2021 line-up, alongside the UK's Arlo Parks, Squid and Dry Cleaning.
Set to be one of the only big international new music showcases taking place this year, Iceland Airwaves is a golden opportunity for anyone to see breaking acts playing live for the first time this November.
Over the last number of years, the festival has a recent track record of hosting breakthrough Irish acts, from Fontaines D.C. and Pillow Queens to Æ MAK.
With anticipation for this year’s event at an all time high - many buzz-worthy acts confirmed today will be performing live for the first time since 2019.
Lo-fi pop prodigy Smoothboi Ezra; rising hip-hop, poetry and spoken word star and winner of the 2020 RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Album of The Year, Denise Chaila; and post-punk BIMM graduates Thumper will each take to the stage to represent Ireland.

Today, nearly 30 new names are announced, adding to what’s already one of the strongest and most diverse bills in the festival’s 20 plus year history, making up 90 acts from all around the world in total.
Metronomy, Squid, Dry Cleaning, Porridge Radio, Lynks and more already confirmed to play from the UK, as well as Eurovision sensation Daði Freyr and Daughters of Reykjavik among the best in homegrown talent, and today have adding Arlo Parks, Sad Night Dynamite, Bartees Strange, KeiyaA, Wu-Lu, Kælan Mikla, Vök, Snny, Axel Flóvent, Laufey and loads more.
Iceland’s natural wonders often claim the title “the greatest show on Earth”, and Iceland Airwaves is similar in its one-of-a-kind offering. The festival’s musical diversity is as impressive as its host city Reykjavík and the incredible nature surrounding it.
Everything is pointing to Iceland being the place to be at the end of the year, with travel very much back on the cards and a new volcano expected to remain nice and active for many months to come.
4-day festival passes are available here now - be sure to get yours before the price increases.
