The lead-up to the release to Finding Dory has been long and drawn out but it's finally here and it's breaking records already!
The Pixar-Disney work Finding Dory is officially the most successful opening of an animated film in US box-office history.
This past weekend saw Dory and her fishy friends rake in over $136.2 million big bucks in its opening weekend. That beats the previous title holder Shrek the Third which in 2007 took in $121.6. The box-office figures indicated boast that Finding Dory is the second most successful opening of 2016, slightly behind Marvel's extravaganza Captain America: Civil War.
Those behind the sequel of the 2003 Finding Dory will be breathing a huge sigh of relief as making a sequel to the cherished original was always going to be a daunting task. Comedienne and TV mogul, Ellen DeGeneres is back voicing the titular forgetful fish, Dory. She's joined on cast by Ty Burrell, Idris Elba, Diane Keaton, Willem Dafoe and Albert Brooks. This time around, it's Dory who's trying to find her own family. The problemo? She finds it hard to remember what happened five minutes ago, never mind to remember years back.
As well as making the big box-office bucks, Finding Dory has also been adorned with rave reviews with The New York Times gushing; "Finding Dory argues, with lovely ingenuity and understatement, that what appear to be impairments might better be understood as strengths."
We will find out what all the hype is about when Finding Dory swims into Irish cinemas on July 29.
