The Cork duo are climbing the Irish podcast ranks with millions of streams across 23 countries and a string of sold out shows around Ireland.
Dynamic duo 'I'm Grand Mam' are back with a bang, finally returning to the air waves for season six of the podcast.
Kevin Twomey and PJ Kirby, both originally from Cork, started I'm Grand Mam back in 2019 when they were living together in London. The lads have quickly become two of the biggest LGBTQ+ icons in Ireland, having graced the front cover of Gay Community News (GCN) and now joining Hot Press cover star Panti Bliss, and Shane Daniel Byrne as hosts of the Mother Dublin Pride Block Party weekend at the end of June. The two have garnered upwards of 39,000 followers on Instagram, and millions of podcast streams across 23 countries.
Recently, the platonic power couple performed 22 sell-out shows on a national tour of Ireland across 7 venues, so clearly they're doing something right.

In the run up to the first episode of season six, the Mammy's boys released their promo single 'Fast Lane'. The track, written by Kevin and PJ, and produced by Adam Shanahan, is sure to become an Irish queer anthem. With hilarious lyrics like: "First things first babe if you want to hit this, change those manky bed sheets cause they smell like piss piss, maybe then we'll kiss kiss" and "Iced coffee in hand no matter what the season, on the way to brunch and we don't need a reason", maybe the transition from podcast hosts to international superstars is coming sooner rather than later?
The track is accompanied by a stunning music video produced by Douglas Reddan and featuring the two starlets. The Cork duo have spoken profusely on the podcast about their Cork/London dance training which is demonstrated throughout this new visual.
The first episode of season six dropped Monday, June 20, with lots of news from the boys. Now living not only apart, but in different countries, Kevin and PJ took fans through a catch up episode where they revealed what's been going on in the I'm Grand Mam world since their Christmas special in December 2021.
The podcast pair have been very vocal about LGBTQ+ issues over every season of the pod, with PJ discussing his current fundraiser for LGBT Ireland in the latest episode. With a spate of attacks on the queer community across Ireland as of late, Kirby is raising money to help the organisation hire a Key Support Worker, who'll work in the hate crime area - focusing on issues such as urgent filing of cases, homelessness, and key family support.
You can donate to the fundraiser here. Kevin and PJ have done incredible work in de-stigmatising queer issues, and the success of their podcast is only a just reward.
The two will be hosting the main stage of the Pride Block Party on Saturday, June 25. You can find tickets here.
