This will mark the first solo exhibit in Ireland of the work by Sonic Youth founder Kim Gordon.
One of the most prolific and groundbreaking female artists in recent years, Kim Gordon will have her first solo exhibition in Ireland in IMMA later this year.
The exhibition will showcase her work over the past twenty-five years, offering new perspectives on her work as a musician, writer, and visual artist.
Founded in 1981, Gordon's band Sonic Youth released a total of sixteen albums, and were widely hailed as a seminal influence on American noise rock and for "redefining what a guitar can do".
In addition to her work as a musician, Gordon has been involved in producing, fashion, and acting, working consistently as a visual artist throughout her music career. As a result, she has become an artist who constantly crosses boundaries between visual art, music, fashion, film, writing and performance, and insists on radical experimentation within every field.

The exhibit will run from July-November this year, functioning to enrich IMMA's programming which has begun to focus on establishing art contexts for female artists, past and present, with a punk sensibility.
