She might only be sixteen years old, but there's no denying the extraordinary impact of Amybeth McNulty, who plays the eponymous heroine of the hugely popular Netflix series Anne With An E.
In the new Hot Press, the Co. Donegal star talks about taking on the role of Anne Shirley, the central character in the Anne Of Green Gables novels - no easy task considering these novels are adored by fans across the world.
"It was such a wild experience," she says. "I'd never even fathomed could be a possibility in my future and it was all happening when I was just 15."
The show itself was produced and written by Moira Walley-Beckett, a three-time Emmy Award winner for her work on Breaking Bad. Amybeth McNulty immediately connected with the script and the character.
"I've definitely brought quite a few parts of her personality and intertwined them with my own," she tells us."I admire her a lot."
She also talks about balancing the demands of filming with the slightly more, eh, mundane task of school life.
