We take at a look at the collectives in Ireland reinventing the nightlife scene.
Outhouse kicked things off with a bang in 2015, booking Australian superstar DJ Sonny Fodera for their very first event. Since those not-so-humble beginnings, the Letterkenny-based collective, run by DJs Reuben Keeney (aka Rebuke) and Junior Russell (aka Justafryed) have found a home in Fifth Avenue, a popular nightclub in the town that opened its doors in July 2017.
While Outhouse have presented an impressive selection of international acts, including CamelPhat and Huxley, their events have also showcased a number of Irish heavyweights working their way up through the ranks, with Adamant, KETTAMA, Quinton Campbell and Boots & Kats all making appearances at Fifth Avenue. Serving as an important platform for both local and international DJs and producers, the collective have brought something entirely new to Letterkenny’s cultural scene.
Outhouse Radio’s Saturday night slot on iRadio, between 10pm and 12am, has also been a powerful force in showcasing house and techno music around the country. According to presenter Reuben Keeney, the weekly programme aims “to bring a piece of club culture to the station every week.”
