Leisureland will host some of Ireland's best comedic acts on Thursday, April 28 - with all proceeds going towards Irish Red Cross.
Irish comedians will unite in Leisureland, Galway for their second Stand Up for Ukraine fundraiser. 100% of ticket proceeds go to Irish Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
"Like the Bob Geldof of comedy, we have cajoled a plethora of comedy stars to perform in Galway’s Leisureland on April 28th, and all have agreed to waive their fees."
The night's stars Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, Enya Martin, Danny O'Brien, Sinead Quinlan, and Karl Spain will all be in attendance at the Thursday night show.
"People might think it’s odd to have a comedy show for something so serious," explains show promoter Brian Byrne, “But I think it’s important to show that Ukraine is unbowed and won't back down from a bully. Often the best thing to do with a bully is just laugh at them!”
A previous performance in March brought in €30,000 for the Red Cross from over 800 attendees.

"We got such amazing support on this,” Byrne says, “It’s wonderful to see. We had 830 people turn out on a week’s notice to support this event. The money raised now will go directly towards the humanitarian effort on the ground, predominantly providing hygiene items and medical supplies to those in desperate need. I think the situation in Ukraine has really struck a chord in Ireland. This is something which is happening in Europe. It's very close to home and what’s going on there is utterly barbaric. We’re just really happy to be able to make some contribution to the humanitarian efforts that are going on out there.”
