Irish people also showed higher satisfaction with their home Government’s response to the situation in Ukraine when compared to the rest of the EU.
Irish people are more concerned over housing than any other nation in the EU, says the latest Eurobarometer survey.
61% of respondents in Ireland identified housing as one of the two main issues in their country. The average across the rest of the EU was 10%
Inflation and cost of living was the second biggest concern of Irish people, with 44% of Irish respondents having listed it as one of their two greatest issues. This figure ebbs just below the EU’s average of 45%.
33% of Irish people surveyed stated immigration as one of the two most important issues facing the union, slightly higher than an EU average of 24%.
Irish people were also more concerned about energy supply at 23% when compared to the Union average of 16%.

In regards to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, 79% of Irish respondents agreed with EU financing and supplying of military gear to Ukraine. 94% agreed with the provision of humanitarian aid from the EU to those affected by the war.
A further 72% of Irish people were in favour of a common defence policy within the EU, compared with an average of 77% across member states.
Those surveyed in Ireland also showed much higher satisfaction with their home Government’s response to the situation in Ukraine, at 78% compared to the EU average of 54%.
The Eurobarometer survey consisted of 1,008 interviews with Irish people and a further 26,000 respondents across the EU.
