Killarney's Jessie Buckley and Coleraine's Maggie Farrell among women celebrated in London at Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2023 in London.
Bestselling author Maggie O'Farrell received the best writer award for her contribution to literature, marking a series of shimmering accolades celebrating the Northern Irish author including the Betty Task Award, The Costa Novel Award, the Sunday Times Women's Fiction Award and the Andrew Carnegie Prise for Fiction.
Farrell however won the Harper's Bazaar Writer's Award for her most recent work, Hamnet which the publication described as having propelled the author into 'new heights of literary fame'.
The publication said of the author's work that "Farrell has long enchanted readers with her vividly painted worlds and luminous prose".
Hamnet, the author’s Shakespeare-inspired novel was released in 2020, and has since been adapted for the stage.
The book is now being made into a film starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.

Buckley also made an appearance at the 2023 Harper's Bazaar's Women of the Year awards ceremony to present an award.
The awards ceremony took place last night at Claridge's London. Other notable winners were musician Janelle Monae, Games of Thrones star Amelia Clarke and Director Emerald Fennell who's upcoming film Saltburn features Irish Talent Barry Keoghan.
