The Neil Jordan and Paul McGuinness production has been downloaded 10 million times
Despite mixed reviews and criticism from one of the show's creators Neil Jordan, crime drama Riviera has proved successful for Sky Atlantic, becoming the most-downloaded box-set in the channel's history.
This was celebrated in a tweet which can be viewed below:
10 Million Thank Yous, this is incredible. And if you're still waiting to dip your toe in the water... https://t.co/2wx1omRneg ?? #Riviera https://t.co/GEKtKWFfAg

An appreciative fan's comment was followed by the company account replying that the show fostered "a lot of debate in the office":
Ooh, let us know what you think about the ending when you get there. Lots of debate in the office. #Riviera

Could this be an inadvertent reference to the controversies surrounding the production?
Neil Jordan has spoken about how his original draft which he called "complex" and "dark" was changed and rewritten. Jordan claimed to be "surprised" by Paul McGuinness due to this, and that if Jordan had been in control "it would have been quite different."
McGuinness' representatives issued a statement in response calling Riviera "the most successful premiere on Sky Atlantic this year. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved."
