The hit show will be returning after its 10th season for 2 more years.
The Big Bang Theory may be one of the biggest sitcoms of the 21st century. Over a long time, there were question marks raised over the show’s future, but eventually there has been a confirmation: CBS just revealed that Sheldon & co will return to the screens for two more seasons into 2019.
Reportedly the main cast, which includes Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayya, has already signed up to the show into its 12th season.
Earlier this month the Big Bang Theory-cast offered to take pay-cuts so their newer co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, playing Amy and Bernadette, could have a pay-raise. Bialik and Rauch have not yet signed up for the sitcom’s next two seasons, but are expected to work out a new contract soon.

“Congrats to the cast and crew of The Big Bang Theory, which premiered almost a decade ago in September 2007 and has been TV’s No. 1 comedy for the past five years in a row,” said a CBS spokesman.
Along with the 11th and 12th season of The Big Bang Theory, a spin-off was also confirmed. The prequel Young Sheldon is based on Sheldon Cooper’s childhood in Texas and will feature Iain Armitage as the 9-year-old geek. Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon in the original show, will narrate the story. Iron Man director Jon Favreau will helm the first episode of Young Sheldon, which is expected to air either later this year or next year.
