The Succession actress will star as Juno Boyle alongside Mark Rylance in Seán O’Casey's Juno and the Paycock
J. Smith-Cameron and Mark Rylance are set to appear in a new, century production of the Irish play Juno and the Paycock in London’s West End.
The new production of Seán O’Casey's play will run at the Gielgud Theatre from September 21 to November 23.
Tony award nominee Smith-Cameron is best known for her role as lawyer Gerri Kellman HBO’s Succession, which won both the Emmy and Golden Globe awards for best drama series.
Her co-star Rylance won an Olivier and a Tony award for his performance as Johnny "Rooster" Byron in Jersualem, and will play ‘Captain’ Jack Boyle in June and the Paycock.
Set in Dublin, 1922, during the Irish Civil War, Juno and the Paycock is a dark-humoured play that follows a poor family whose fortunes suddenly change when they learn they are to inherit money from a relative who has passed away.

Speaking of her West End debut, Smith-Cameron told London Theatre, “Juno and the Paycock is not simply a brilliant piece of theatre but an eternally relevant play so long as people must endure violent repression.
“The prospect of revisiting this work in the company of the great director Matthew Warchus and the truly legendary Mark Rylance absolutely floors me; I couldn't be more thrilled.”
The new stage production, which will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and directed by Matthew Warchus, will open at the Gielgud Theatre on October 3, with previews from September 21.
