Up and coming Wexford singer/songwriter JaXson has been steadily gaining momentum. Today, he unveils his new single 'We Were Born'.
Who is JaXson ? That question is likely to be asked with increasing frequency over the coming months, as an extraordinary new talent continues to assert himself.
Since he was a kid, he was known down Wexford way as Luke Jackson. He spent time gaining experience as a performer working under his own name. Then, looking for a game-changer, Luke refashioned himself as JaXson (the capital X is apparently mandatory!) in January 2017 – and since then, he has gone on to build on an impressive start.
He played his first shows in venues such as Whelan's and The Workman's Club and continued to gig widely throughout 2017 and 2018. He played to a packed crowd at Vantastival 2018, featured on Sofar Sounds in Dublin, and supported Little Hours in Waterford in May.
"I had the good fortune to catch young JaXson at Vantastival earlier in the summer, when I was playing there," Hot Press' David Rooney – a fine singer-songwriter himself – says. "His show was simply amazing! Playing initially to a small crowd, word quickly got around, and by the time he finished he had a heaving tent in the palm of his hand and a battered Telecaster held aloft in the other."

JaXson debut single, 'All I'm Fighting For' was recorded and mixed by renowned producer, Darragh Nolan at Asta Kalapa Studios in Gorey and released in October 2017. That single went on to get steady air-play on Beat 102-103, Classic Hits 4FM, South East Radio and many more.
Today sees the release of JaXson's sophomore single 'We Were Born', a very moving song that speaks to the anxieties of the modern age. It features impassioned vocals and resonant lyrics. With commentary that "We spend our lives just trying to be perfect/ we spend our lives just wondering if we're worth it", he strikes a chord with contemporary neuroses and the worrying demand for self-perfectionism that has been spurred by social media. The track, also produced by Darragh Nolan, is available on Spotify now.
