The much-anticipated new show by ex-Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is now uploaded for streaming. The first episode of the new show called 'The Grand Tour' – featuring hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May – premieres exclusively on fee-paying Amazon Prime Video today (Friday 18 November).
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May filmed the first season of the highly anticipated Amazon Original Series in far-flung locations across the globe for the 12-eposides of the stunning 4K Ultra HD production.
The studio portion of the show takes place in a traveling tent, in locations ranging from Johannesburg to California, Whitby, England to Rotterdam, and Lapland to Nashville.
Clarkson – who was famously sacked from the popular Top Gear motoring show by the BBC for punching an Irish staff member – tells the audience of the new show in the first episode about his new portable studio: “This is our new traveling studio tent. We’re going to be roaming the world in it, we’re going to be like gypsies, only the cars we drive are going to be insured.’
With a mammoth £160million budget, Clarkson’s return to our screens – albeit via online streaming – is one of the most anticipated TV shows of the year... even more so since the disastrous run of the revamped BBC’s Top Gear which ended in tears for its new presenter, Chris Evans who stepped down after shockingly poor reviews and ratings.
Amazon is also announcing the launch of The Grand Tour skill for Alexa-enabled devices including the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot. In The Grand Tour skill, featuring the voices of hosts Clarkson, Hammond and May, customers will receive a new clue every Thursday about what to watch for in the upcoming episode of the series, and new trivia will be released each Saturday.
Fans who are truly “on the tour” and answer all three questions right will unlock exclusive video content. In addition, customers also can engage with The Grand Tour presenters via specially-recorded alarms and additional content. Here’s a hint—ask Alexa if she was invited on the Grand Tour.
The Grand Tour will air new episodes weekly over the next 12 weeks. Prime members can watch The Grand Tour via the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Amazon Fire TV, mobile devices and online at Amazon.com/thegrandtour.
