The film will focus on the breakout of thirty-eight IRA prisoners from Her Majesty's Prison Maze in 1983.
Following the success of his recent film The Secret Scripture, Jim Sheridan has begun work on the script for upcoming film H-Block based on the original script from Tony Devlin and Gavin McCloskey. The film, set to star Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy, tells the story of the thirty-eight prisoners who escaped from the high-security Maze Prison, with only half of them recaptured. Murphy is set to play the leader of the escapees, Dornan to play another prisoner who is less convinced of the breakout. Pierce Brosnan is also in talks to be cast in the film, potentially as the prison warden.
The new version of the script will be written by Sheridan and 13 Reasons Why screenwriter Nic Sheff.
