The comedian and late night TV host will present the 89th Academy Awards in February.
Jimmy Kimmel revealed how much he is getting paid to host the Oscars in February. He appeared on L.A.'s KROQ’s Kevin & Bean morning show on Wednesday, where he revealed he’ll be paid $15,000 (€14,300) to host the Oscars ceremony.
Seeming a bit low compared to what he normally makes, the late-night host joked: "I think it’s illegal to pay nothing."
He added saying "I’m not sure I was supposed to reveal this. But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault."
This will be Kimmel's first time hosting the Oscars and it was announced on December 5, about two months later than Oscars hosts are usually revealed. Kimmel also joked about this: "They asked like 14 people and they all said no and then there was me. I absolutely was surprised."
His upcoming turn as Oscars host comes just months after he hosted the Emmys, which also aired on ABC, in September. In addition, Kimmel has famously hosted an Oscars aftershow on ABC within the last few years.
The 89th Academy Awards will air live Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
