Public Image Ltd. will perform at the National Stadium, Dublin on June 9th with Dublin band MELTS as special guests.
Former Sex Pistol John Lydon is bringing his rebellious Public Image Ltd to play their first gig in Dublin in four years, at Dublin's National Stadium on Thursday, June 9th.
Support comes from Dublin five-piece Melts, who are slated to release their debut album Maelstrom next month - produced by Gilla Band's Daniel Fox. After their debut appearance at SXSW festival, Melts return to Dublin's Button Factory and then head straight out on their first UK headline tour.
Regarded as one of the most innovative bands around, Public Image Ltd.'s music and vision earned them five UK Top 20 singles and five UK Top 20 albums.
With a shifting line-up and unique sound, John Lydon guided the band from their debut album, First Issue, in 1978 through to 1992’s That What Is Not. After a 17 year hiatus, Lydon reactivated PiL in 2009 by taking them back on the road worldwide.
There's a whirl of controversy surrounding the new Disney series Pistol, directed by Danny Boyle and premiering on the streaming platform on May 31st.
Lydon, also known by his stage name Johnny Rotten, fought a high-profile court battle against the rest of the band in a bid to stop their songs being used in the Disney+ show. Created by Craig Pearce and written by Pearce and Frank Cottrell Boyce, Pistol is based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir, Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol.
