The much-anticipated charity gig will take place on Monday, 4th October 2021 from 7.30pm.
The family of the late John Prine have announced the first public remembrance and celebration of his life and work, which will be live streamed from The Mick Lally Theatre in Galway.
The Prine family will memorialise the legendary songwriter, along with some of Ireland’s best know musicians who will come together and perform songs from his vast catalogue.
The Mick Lally Theatre is also the legendary home of Druid Theatre Company in the heart of Galway city, and will host the event on October 4th from 7.30pm. 'Souvenirs' will be available to view on demand from 7th to 10th October, and will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio One in the near future.
Those performing on the night include Mary Black, Paul Brady, Sharon Shannon, Tommy Prine, Mary Stokes (with Sarah Michelle and Brian Palm), Little John Nee and Declan O’Rourke - with John’s long-time friend and supporter John Creedon acting as MC.
For more than 20 years, Prine and his family spent summers in Kinvara, Galway, at their home on the outskirts of the village. John participated in numerous musical sessions at Mary Green’s pub, where he met and befriended many local singer-songwriters and performers.

The prolific creative sadly died from complications due to Covid-19 on April 7th, 2020. The first public event to celebrate his life will fittingly happen in Ireland, where his wife Fiona was born and where John spent some of the happiest times in his life.
“John recognised that in Ireland people loved and accepted him outside of his life as a celebrated artist. His Irish passport was one of his most prized possessions," Fiona Whelan Prine said. "We are delighted to be able to remember him with his family and musician friends from Ireland, with this very special tribute event from Galway."
Net proceeds from the Live Stream / On-Demand event will benefit DORAS, an independent, non-profit, NGO working to promote and protect the rights of people from a migrant and refugee background in Ireland. The second chosen charity is Druid - Ireland’s leading theatre touring company.
