The actor was first arrested over domestic assault charges in March, and has been embroiled in a dramatic court case ever since.
Jonathan Majors was found guilty of two counts of assault on Monday, out of the four accounts he was originally charged with.
Just hours later, the actor was dropped by the Disney-Marvel machine, meaning he won't return to play his character Kang the Conqueror in any future instalments of the MCU as planned.
The two-week trial took place in New York, where a jury heard testimony from Grace Jabbari, Majors' former girlfriend and accuser. She described to the jury the incident that led to Majors' arrest in March, after a conflict in a chauffeured SUV on the way to his apartment in New York.
She told them their relationship had turned physical when she noticed romantic texts on Majors' phone: that when she grabbed the device from his hands, Majors twisted her arm in a way that caused her "excruciating pain" and then hit her in the head before fleeing.

Majors' career was on an upswing before the incident: he received praise for his performances in films like Creed III and The Last Black Man in San Fransisco. Most prominently, he had been cast as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, the next big-baddie of the massive franchise. He has already starred in three Marvel projects as the character, including both seasons of Loki and last year's CGI-fest Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
The upcoming Avengers film Avengers: Kang Dysnasty, due to release in 2026, was set to feature Majors' Kang as the main villain. Marvel Studios has not yet addressed how they will shift their plans following the firing of Majors, but have maintained that the film is still in the scripting stage, has not begun filming, and currently has no director attached.
Majors was convicted of third-degree assault and second-degree assault. His sentencing hearing is set for February, where he faces up to a year in prison.
