'Hysteria Presents: Stand Up Comedy at the Sugar Club' will take place on Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:30pm. Hosted by Cian Jordan and Matthew Tallon.
Hysteria Comedy Collective with Shane Daniel Byrne, Justine Stafford, Matthew Tallon and more will grace the Sugar Club stage on February 23rd, with predictably hilarious results.
Hysteria is a new collective of young alternative and queer stand-up comedians in Dublin. They formed over the pandemic with a mission to platform fresh voices in Irish comedy, and create fun and unique spaces for comedy performance in this country.
The collective are taking the capital city's comedy scene and art world by storm. In their short life-span, members have already had sold-out shows in the Dublin Fringe Festival, Scene+Heard Festival and Brighton Fringe. These included stand-up shows, theatre, drag shows and online video installations.
Recently, members Allie O'Rourke and Becky Cheatle even managed to curate a movie in Dublin International Film Festival. They also run a stand-up club every Thursday, Friday and Sunday in Sin É pub. They're a multidisciplinary comedy crew trying to shake things up in Irish comedy, and succeeding.
"For this project, Hysteria are putting on their first ever show in a big music venue, The Sugar Club. We wanted to have a proper celebration of the return to live performance, something that would feel half like a gig and half like a party," Matthew Tallon tells Hot Press.

"The Sugar Club was the perfect setting for this, as they always have great live music, DJ and film events that always have a terrific party atmosphere."
Fitting in with the theme of 'Return to Live Performance', Hysteria invited some of the biggest online comedians in the country, stand-up comedians who blew up on instagram and TikTok over Covid and are now finally making their return to the stage.
This will give many fans of theirs an opportunity to see them live for the first time. Shane Daniel Byrne (who went viral for his hilarious "Sharon" videos during lockdown), Justine Stafford (who has 2.4 million likes on TikTok) and Peter McCann (known for characters Liam Nugent and 'Filter Dad') will all make appearances.
Can’t wait for this gig next week! Tickets are on sale now for @Hysteriaireland at @sugarclubdublin next Wednesday!
