English spoken word artist Kae Tempest announced their new album, The Line Is A Curve, which is set to be released on April 8.
Tempest teased the new record with the lead single, ‘More Pressure,’ featuring Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract. The track’s themes of needing release from the pressures of life arguably sets the tone for the forthcoming work.
“The Line Is A Curve is about letting go of shame, anxiety, isolation and falling instead into surrender,” Tempest said in a statement about the album. “Embracing the cyclical nature of time, growth, love. This letting go can hopefully be felt across the record.”
The album is produced by Dan Carey with executive production by Rick Ruben, co-president of Columbia Records. Along with Abstract, the album features the likes of Lianne La Havas and Irish singer Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C.
The Line Is A Curve marks the first work since 2014 that features their face on the cover; an intentional choice Tempest hopes the audience will feel welcomed by.

“I feel more grounded in what I’m trying to do, who I am as an artist and as a person,” Tempest explained. “I feel less shame in my body because I am not hiding from the world anymore.”
