Award-winning artist and chef Kelis shares a provocative music video for her new single.
American R&B artist Kelis has released a new music video for her single ‘Midnight Snacks.’
Seven years after the release of her last album, the award-winning singer has returned with a trap-infused track. Produced by London-based FaNaTiXs, ‘Midnight Snacks’ is centred around – as the name might give away – food. This is not a new subject for the New York native, her previous album being entitled, quite literally, Food.
Directed by Adrienne Raquel, the video is rich with vivid colours and extravagant costumes.
Kelis made her debut over two decades ago, with her jazz and disco-inspired album Kaleidoscope – which was re-released for its 20th anniversary last year. Her third record Tasty saw the release of the now cult-like ‘Milkshake’. Her love for food can be seen early on in her career, as she took a break from music in 2006 to pursue a culinary education at Le Cordon Bleu in New York. She has been recognised by a number of awards, including the Brits and Grammys – as well as collaborating with a number of international artist ranging from Busta Rhymes to Enrique Iglesias.

Her love of food extends beyond the realm of music – having released a cookbook My Life on a Plate in 2016, as well as launching a cooking show on Netflix titled Cooked with Cannabis. The TV show followed a number of chefs as they competed to create the best marijuana-infused meal.
