Two new tracks 'Neu Butterfly 3000 (Peaches Remix)' and 'Shanghai (Dub by the Scientist)' lead Butterfly 30001.
Australian band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have announced Butterfly 3001, a full-length featuring remixes of Butterfly 3000 songs.
The new album will arrive on January 21 via KGLW and includes contributions from Yu Su, Deaton Chris, DJ Shadow, Donato Dozzy, Flaming Lips, DāM-FunK, and more.
Butterfly 3000 was the prolific outfit's second studio album of 2021, following February’s L.W. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are set to restart their tour in 2022 after more Aussie dates.
Formed in 2010 in Melbourne, Victoria; the band consists of Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood, and Michael Cavanagh. They are known for exploring multiple genres, staging energetic live shows and building a prolific discography, having released 18 studio albums, 10 live albums, two compilations and two EPs.
Second EP, Willoughby's Beach (2011), and debut album, 12 Bar Bruise (2012), predominantly blended surf music and garage rock, and were released on the band's label Flightless.

Their second album, a "psychedelic spaghetti western" titled Eyes Like the Sky (2013), features spoken-word narration by Broderick Smith. Float Along – Fill Your Lungs, released later in the year, and the 2014 albums Oddments and I'm in Your Mind Fuzz, saw the band expand on their psychedelic sound.
They drew on elements of jazz fusion and progressive rock with Quarters! in 2015 and released the folk-inspired Paper Mâché Dream Balloon. The project was recorded almost entirely using acoustic instruments. 2016's Nonagon Infinity (2016) was arguably their most acclaimed album to date. Nine interconnected tracks that form an infinite loop on the work.
In 2017, the band released an incredible five studio albums within the year: Flying Microtonal Banana in February; the three-chapter "sci-fi heavy metal epic" Murder of the Universe in June and Sketches of Brunswick East, an improvised jazz collaboration with Mild High Club, in August Polygondwanaland landed in November; and Gumboot Soup in December. The 2019 albums Fishing for Fishies and Infest the Rats' Nest saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard incorporate boogie rock and thrash metal into their soundscape.
Throughout 2020, the band released several live albums, a concert film, a double compilation of demos, K.G., their 16th studio album and a compilation of early singles and all the tracks on the Anglesea EP called Teenage Gizzard. In February of this year, the band released L.W., followed by the synth-heavy dream pop album Butterfly 3000 in June. Both were released independently.
