King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have returned with 'The Dripping Tap', while fans can pre-order upcoming album Omnium Gatherum, from March 22nd.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have returned with a new single, 'The Dripping Tap,' and an announcement of their upcoming album Omnium Gatherum. No release date has been revealed, but the project is available for pre-order from March 22nd through their label, KGLW.
'The Dripping Tap' — whose 18-minute run time begins with meandering, gentle soul that evolves into a cacophony of breathless, electric shredding — is the first single to tease the new album.
Omnium Gatherum will already be the psychedelic rockers second release this year, after their remix album Butterfly 3001 dropped in January. This follows the group's prolific album release schedule, who in the eleven years they've been active have produced an incredible 19 studio albums.
“This recording session felt significant," said band-member Stu MacKenzie in a statement."Significant because it was the first time all six Gizzards had gotten together after an extraordinarily long time in lockdown. Significant because it produced the longest studio recording we’ve ever released. Significant because (I think) it’s going to change the way we write and record music—at least for a while…. A turning point. A touchstone. I think we’re entering into our ‘jammy period.’ It feels good.”
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard formed in Melbourne, Victoria in 2010. Consisting of bandmates Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood, and Michael Cavanagh, the group is known for their many genre explorations, producing albums defined as anything from neo-psychedelia to prog rock. Often experimental, such as their 2016, interconnected album Nonagon Infinity, they're known for creating the unexpected.
