Korean Outfit Say Sue Me Hit Ireland For Three Gig Blitz

The South Korean surf-poppers Say Sue Me have been building a sterling reputation with a series of impressive releases and hot gigs. But will Ireland fall in love with them?

Say Sue Me have been lined up for a three date Irish tour. The South Korean outfit, comprising three guys and a girl, arrive in Dublin for a show at the Grand Social, on Liffey Street Lower, on Friday 10 May, with doors opening at 8pm.

That follows a stint the previous evening (Thursday 9 May), in the Roisin Dubh, Galway, with doors at 9pm. And it is followed by a show in McHugh’s Basement Bar, Belfast on Saturday 11 May.

Say Sue Me have been charming fans – including everyone from Stereogum to Elton John – with their delicious surf-toned indie rock. After a standout set at this year’s SXSW, the quartet issued their stunning new album, Where We Were Together, through the London-based label Damnably and Seoul’s Electric Muse, gathering critical acclaim from NPR, Billboard and BBC Radio 6 in the process.

Say Sue Me are from Busan, South Korea. Formed as a unit in 2012, Choi Su-mi, Kim Byung-gyu, Ha Jae-young, and Kim Changwon released their first album, We’ve Sobered Up, in 2014 and EP, Big Summer Night in 2015 on Korean Indie label Electric Muse.

Damnably Records of London, England released a Record Store Day exclusive 7″ EP, Semin, and a Compilation album of 1st and EP, Say Sue Me, in the UK and Europe to coincide with the band's debut UK tour, supporting Japan’s Otoboke Beaver – which started at a sold out show at the 100 Club in London.

The band have picked up considerable BBC6Music Radio play from the likes of Gideon Coe, Tom Ravenscroft and Don Letts and were included in the BBC Introducing Spotify Playlist. ‘Good For Some Reason’ was released as a split-single w/ Japan's Otoboke Beaver and premiered in The Fader, while their newest singles 'Old Town’, premiered in Stereogum; 'B Lover' premiered in Uproxx; and 'After Falling Asleep' in Billboard.

The band recently debuted at SXSW where NPR selected them for the Hot 100 acts to see at SXSW. Say Sue Me’s second album Where We Were Together was released April 13 and reached #1 on Bandcamp's Alternative sales chart. To date, tracks have been play-listed by BBC6Music, NPR and Spotify.
